Happy 2025!

Thank you for allowing me to support your intention to elevate yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally in 2024. I look forward to hearing about how our work together will manifest for you in this new year.

A family crisis last year caused me to limit my focus to our 1:1 coaching sessions, publishing articles and blogs related to well-being, and editing the manuscript for my book. Because I needed to spend a good part of the year back in my hometown, I had to keep my rooftop events and private talks to a minimum. I appreciated your flexibility with respect to scheduling sessions during this challenging period.

Spending so much time back in my old neighborhood led me to undergo a life review of sorts. I couldn’t help but think about how our choices shape the course of our lives. We make choices, and they propel us forward.

I’m not a revisionist. I don’t wonder what my life would have been like if I had made different decisions because I always choose with my heart. But the experience of making the choice to leave my home to manage this family crisis made it clear to me that my life today could have been very different.

This situation also made me aware that our choices can, at times, be interrupted by life events that cause us to go on a detour. You have most likely seen this play out in your own life — being diverted from your intended direction in order to attend to someone or something else that you value.

Detours can be bumpy. And without the benefit of a GPS, we can feel lost and incur the anxiety of not knowing when the detour will end nor what we will encounter along the way.

Do we resent this at times painful detour or embrace it as an opportunity for growth?

We are conditioned to view detours as wastes of time. Yet, there is beauty in detours because they are part of the human experience. If we look closely, we will find that detours can deliver gifts, many times in the form of connection or personal growth. I was surprised by some of the people who showed up for me on my detour…and those who didn’t. The suffering that I endured led to a deeper connection with my Self as well as others.

Looking back, I can see that each choice and every detour that I have made in my life has left me with a gift that has contributed to my ability to be present for you today.

How about you? Have ever wondered what your life would be like if you had made a different choice? Ever regret any detours that you’ve taken or become stressed or discouraged by them? Have any yet-to-be realized desires for some type of a change? Ever consider that the decisions you make today will impact the remainder of your life?

As you prepare to make 2025 a year of expansion, I’d like to encourage you with the following:

  • Make a decision today. And remember that not making a decision is also a decision.
  • Honor the detour. Know that going on a detour can result in gifts that are not immediately evident.
If your plans have been diverted in the past, there is no time like now to reaffirm your intentions.

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year brimming with fresh starts and the ability to embrace any detours that may come your way.
