My personal note for 2025 and thoughts on choice and detours

My personal note for 2025 and thoughts on choice and detours

Happy 2025!

Thank you for allowing me to support your intention to elevate yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally in 2024. I look forward to hearing about how our work together will manifest for you in this new year.

A family crisis last year caused me to limit my focus to our 1:1 coaching sessions, publishing articles and blogs related to well-being, and editing the manuscript for my book. Because I needed to spend a good part of the year back in my hometown, I had to keep my rooftop events and private talks to a minimum. I appreciated your flexibility with respect to scheduling sessions during this challenging period.

Spending so much time back in my old neighborhood led me to undergo a life review of sorts. I couldn’t help but think about how our choices shape the course of our lives. We make choices, and they propel us forward.

I’m not a revisionist. I don’t wonder what my life would have been like if I had made different decisions because I always choose with my heart. But the experience of making the choice to leave my home to manage this family crisis made it clear to me that my life today could have been very different.

This situation also made me aware that our choices can, at times, be interrupted by life events that cause us to go on a detour. You have most likely seen this play out in your own life — being diverted from your intended direction in order to attend to someone or something else that you value.

Detours can be bumpy. And without the benefit of a GPS, we can feel lost and incur the anxiety of not knowing when the detour will end nor what we will encounter along the way.

Do we resent this at times painful detour or embrace it as an opportunity for growth?

We are conditioned to view detours as wastes of time. Yet, there is beauty in detours because they are part of the human experience. If we look closely, we will find that detours can deliver gifts, many times in the form of connection or personal growth. I was surprised by some of the people who showed up for me on my detour…and those who didn’t. The suffering that I endured led to a deeper connection with my Self as well as others.

Looking back, I can see that each choice and every detour that I have made in my life has left me with a gift that has contributed to my ability to be present for you today.

How about you? Have ever wondered what your life would be like if you had made a different choice? Ever regret any detours that you’ve taken or become stressed or discouraged by them? Have any yet-to-be realized desires for some type of a change? Ever consider that the decisions you make today will impact the remainder of your life?

As you prepare to make 2025 a year of expansion, I’d like to encourage you with the following:

  • Make a decision today. And remember that not making a decision is also a decision.
  • Honor the detour. Know that going on a detour can result in gifts that are not immediately evident.
If your plans have been diverted in the past, there is no time like now to reaffirm your intentions.

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year brimming with fresh starts and the ability to embrace any detours that may come your way.

Are you overlooking a natural remedy?

Are you overlooking a natural remedy?

We human beings were designed to spend 85% of our time outdoors. Today, on average we spend less than 2% of our time outdoors. This disparity leaves us overlooking a powerful natural remedy at the expense of our holistic health.

You have all heard me say that everything is about energy. Our electromagnetic field is disrupted by challenging emotional events, chemical toxins, and electro-pollution (e.g. Wi-Fi, cell towers, cell phones, Bluetooth, etc.). Connecting our field with the surface of the earth can help to balance the effects of these disruptions.

Earthing, commonly referred to as grounding, is a therapeutic technique with many holistic health benefits. I’ve touched on this topic previously (May 2019, Nov 2023). It’s worth revisiting it because I’m seeing that clients continue to be challenged in this area. And as we move through the spring season, grounding becomes an even easier and more accessible cost-free natural remedy that you don’t want to miss out on.

How Connecting with the Earth Supports Us
From a scientific perspective, the surface of the earth has a negative charge. The overstimulation and toxins of modern life can cause us to build up an overabundant amount of positive charge. This condition can leave us feeling out of balance (either drained, wired, or both), causing stress, anxiety, and ultimately illness.

When we touch the earth, we discharge our overly positive charge into it. The earth neutralizes our charge. This process changes the polarity of our body and the alkalinity of our blood shifts. Recent reports, although still limited, have revealed that grounding could benefit conditions such as inflammation, high blood pressure, chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

You ground yourself by doing things like ditching your shoes and going barefoot in the grass or sand, walking in the woods, standing or swimming in the ocean, submerging yourself in a bath, or lying against or hugging a tree (yes, tree huggers are actually on to something!).

When was the last time your body touched nature’s elements for a significant amount of time (at least 30 minutes)…your last walk in the woods…or even in a woodsy park?

Grounding is an easily accessible wellness technique that is critical to your well-being. I take advantage of it in all seasons (I’ve been spotted lying on the ground in Central Park even on winter days).

Nature was designed to support you on your journey.

Remember to tap into the powerful natural remedies for modern life that are available to you. 😉

Be The Peace You Want to See

Be The Peace You Want to See

We’ve been witnessing unprecedented violence and tragedy in the Middle East. As a result, hate crimes across the globe have greatly increased.

As a diagnosed Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I have greater central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli than the average person. This makes me highly intuitive, which helps my work. But it also means that the headline news can sometimes make me cry. A fair number of you are also HSP’s.

Your emotions have frequencies, or vibrations.
Powerlessness, fear, anger, and hate are some of the lowest vibrations you can hold. Your vibration affects your holistic health. You want to keep it high.

Many of you have asked me how you can protect your energy from the turmoil going on around us and cultivate peace within yourselves.

The answer is that you need to be grounded. Here are some tips to help you ground yourselves during this challenging period:

Mindset. The theory of social contagion causes you to be influenced by the behaviors and attitudes that surround you. Beware of this and maintain a positive mindset while intending that the current turmoil will result in the highest outcome for all of humanity.

Mindfulness. Commit to a daily mindfulness practice. Practices such as meditation and yoga build resilience and centeredness, among other things.

Earth. If you are feeling scattered, agitated, or depressed, make it a priority to ground your energy. Lie on or place your bare feet on the ground. Another option is to practice the deep breathing technique that many of you have learned during our work together.

Movement. Walking, exercising, and dancing (the best!) get your endorphins flowing. Everyone feels better and smiles more after they move. Don’t have time? Try shaking it to your favorite tune for 3-minutes. 😉

Hydrate. Give your body the quantity and quality of water it requires in order to function optimally. Generally, approximately 1/2 oz of water for every pound of body weight is recommended. However, every person differs. Age and health issues will affect your optimal hydration level. Consult your physician for guidelines.

Sleep. Get your zzz’s in. Adequate sleep (an average of 7-9 hours per nite) is critical to your holistic (mind-body-spirit) health. If you’re having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, try Passion Flower capsules by Nature’s Answer before bed or Bach Rescue Remedy Stress Relief Spray during the night.

Radiation. Limit your exposure to Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF) waves. EMF’s influence metabolic processes in the human body and exert various biological effects on cells. These waves emanate from all electrical and, to a greater extent, wireless devices (i.e., Wi-Fi router, cell phone, laptop, TV, etc.). Consider gifting yourself protective EMF blocking cases this holiday season. Your nervous system will feel more grounded as a result.

Environment. Be mindful of your exposure to all forms of media.

If each of us becomes more peaceful within, we can help the theory of social contagion kick-in and put that peace out onto the planet.

Best wishes for a harmonious holiday season.
